We had the pleasure of having MSU's own Brian Telfor, who gave us some great resume and interviewing tips. Brian Telfor works as the Career Services Consultant in the College of Natural Science. If you are interested in viewing his presentation slides you can view them here. Thank you to Samuel Tashima and Hannah Cregg from Aon for coming back to present for the second time this academic year. They talked with us about some of the important information that you should have on your LinkedIn account. They also prepared an interesting workshop on simple actuarial expectation methods and we applied them to predict the number of wins the Lions might have in a given year. For any of you are who haven't taken finance 311 yet, there is a study abroad program in Belgium that will allow you to satisfy that requirement in a unique way. They spent their time with us explaining their unique business model, that is insuring novelty properties and possessions and taking on riskier policies. Their presentation consisted of the difference between their property and casualty actuaries and their life actuaries. They also discussed the work their actuarial interns do during the summer.
